Aphorism #39
There is no regional art any more.
Back in the 1980s I noticed a magazine article about a large show of Australian art.
I had been to Australia recently and had seen some good new art, so I looked at it with interest. I was dismayed to see a collection of fashionable neo-expressionism which could just as easily been assembled in SoHo, and it dawned on me that anything new in art was now quickly assimilated everywhere else.
The only regions left are the art magazines and the Internet.
Previous: Art is here to take us beyond language.
Next: Art is entertainment.
